1. Delete an item in a permanent way without placing in the Recycle Bin: SHIFT+DELETE 
2. Rename a file or item: F2 
3. Highlight a block of text: CTRL+SHIFT with any of the arrow keys

5. Close any open window or app: ALT+F4
